Definition
Assists students in choosing a career or profession and making employment or training decisions
Knowledge and opportunities to learn about laws and regulations regarding education and employment, including those specific to disability.
Student-focused extracurricular clubs and programs offered through school.
Mentorship that usually takes place between a person who has lived through specific experiences (peer mentor) and a person who is new to that experience (the peer mentee). Mentorship relationships can take different forms such as peer mentoring, disability mentoring, group mentoring or e-mentoring.
A set of approaches designed to assist a student to plan their life and supports
Opportunities and experiences provided to students to build their ability to effectively communicate convey, negotiate or assert his/her own interests and/or desires. These opportunities and experiences should be started at an early age as these skills are needed in education, workplace and community settings
Engages students in sports as a means to increasing educational engagement and achievement. This might be though organized after school activities or a program organized by a local sporting club or organization
Community Connector Services helps students participate in typical activities that build relationships and natural supports with others in the community where the student lives
Opportunities and experiences for students to gain skills and knowledge in order to analyze their own strengths, weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, and have the self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and abilities to carry them; as well as, the ability to guide or direct others on a course of action
