Overview and How to Use This Toolkit

The high value and impact of school nurses were underscored during the pandemic, leading to a rise in demand for school nurses in districts across the country. Due to a nationwide school nurse shortage, there is a need to inspire more nurses and nursing students to pursue a career within a school district. To support schools and districts with this endeavor, CDE created this marketing toolkit to be used by any Colorado school or district for the purpose of recruiting new school nurses and recognizing and retaining current school nurses for their contributions to students, staff and community health and well-being. All files are provided in English and Spanish. Schools and districts are welcome to use these tools as is most helpful for their specific needs.

This toolkit has a variety of resources that schools, districts and hiring managers can use to help:

  • Spread the word about the value and impact school nurses have on students and school communities.
  • Target and inspire nurses and nursing students to pursue a career within a school district.
  • Retain current school nurses through recognition and appreciation.

How to use this toolkit:

The files and copy provided in this toolkit can be used for print, newsletters, social media, presentations, posters and other forms of internal and external e-communications. Each file was designed for multipurpose use and are available for download in English and Spanish and in multiple formats:
