Overview

RITS, or Record Integration Tracking System, assigns each student in the state of Colorado a unique student ID, known as a SASID (State Assigned Student ID), which stays with the student for the duration of their public school career.

There are two ways to obtain a State Assigned Student ID (SASID):

  • Data Pipeline File Upload - Used to search existing SASIDs for multiple students or request SASIDs for multiple students.
    • RITS Request (formally RITS Read): Requesting a new SASID or seeing if student has existing SASID. For this upload, all fields must be completely filled except the SASID field. See SASID File Format Quick Guide.
    • RITS Update (formally RITS Batch): Is to compare information between RITS and your SIS or to update a large batch of student information in RITS. For this upload, all fields must be completely filled including the SASID field.
    • RITS Higher Ed (formally RITS Data Match): For higher ed only and is used to find SASIDs for graduated high school students as part of SURDS reporting. If you need help looking up a SASID for a student over 22, or need to request a SASID for a student over 22, please contact Jessica Tribbett.
  • RITS Web - Used for looking up information on a singled student, adding a singled student or multiple students, editing information on a single student, or retrieving a report that lists SASIDs from one of the above Data Pipeline processes.
    • Student Search/Update:
      • Student Search - Used when checking to see if a new student has an existing SASID. See Tips on Searching for Existing SASID
      • Update - Use student SASID to find record and make an update to a field. Be sure to add a note on the update and 'Save'.
    • Add Single Student: This method allows the institution to submit a single student's information and to obtain an unique ID for the submitted student. This function is not available to users with "View-Only" access to RITS.
    • Add Multiple Students: This method allows the institution to submit a list of students via an on-line entry in order to assign each student a unique identifier. A list of IDs will be supplied back to the institution through a listing on the web site.
    • Data Pipeline File Upload: This method allows the sending institution the option of sending a large batch of student information in order to assign each student a unique ID. The sending institution is able to receive the identifiers back via a similar Data Pipeline file.
